For 2012-05-19 (SAT)
(a) We’ll meet at UGA from 1500-1800 hours to build pioneering projects, display of your survival kits & guard of honour rehearsal.
(b) Dress code: 229 outdoor uniform but with black leather shoes (for foot drill). Wash, clean & iron your full scout uniform for 20 May.
(c) Duty patrol: build the flag stand & hoist flag as usual, but don’t dismantle the flag stand afterwards, keep it and place it at cub scout flag stand position on 20 May.
(d) Pioneering projects: 4 patrols (I’ll tell you which 4 on that day) will each build a tripod with 14 feet long bamboo poles, then form an adventure trail as in the attached. The remaining patrol and all ventures will build a 4-leg observation tower with 15 feet long bamboo poles as in the attached. No need to make the bamboo poles ladder and we will instead use a rope ladder (which I purchased last time). PLs please tie your patrol flags on the tower platform to show show your quali. Also, Philip LAI Sir will come and assist us. Dear LAI Sir, I’ve copied this email to you for information. Thanks in advance.
(e) Guard of honour: I will pick the smart ones to form a guard of honour. Heidi SUEN and one SPL will be the colour bearers to carry the venture & scout flags. Thanks Jane FAN to have washed & cleaned the white ceremonial gloves for us. Let’s practise the guard of honour seriously and you will be inspected by Wanchai Scout Commissioner YUNG Sir on 20 May. Dear scouts & ventures, if you don’t come for the foot drill practice this Saturday then you will not have the honour to be selected to be 229’s first guard of honour ever.
(f) Display of survival kits: SPL please set a table next to the observation tower and display all your survival kits with contents laid out. I’ll bring clear book wrapping sheet to cover the survival kits to keep them intact.
(g) Wanchai Scout District representative will visit us to assess our 2012 Distinguished Troop Award this Saturday. They didn’t come on 5 May so they will definitely come this Saturday (we only gave them either 5 or 19 May). Dear Charlie, please have all the documents ready which they require for inspection. Be alert & prepared.

For 2012-05-20 (SUN)
(a) We’ll meet at 1300 hours, remember to submit your summer camp form & payment cheque on that day. Duty patrol and SPL please prepare the group flag and place the flag stand at cub’s flag stand position.
(b) 1315 hours: final full dress rehearsal for the guard of honour ceremony.
(c) 1430 hours: group fall-in and the daytime program (to be announced later) will start rolling. Venture & scout guard of honour will be the first program and you will drill and march pass before all the VIPs and your friends and others. Be smart please and do your best.
(d) 1615 hours: when the adult leaders disappear for the AGM at UGA school hall, ventures/SPL/PLs please supervise fun use of the observation tower & adventure trail & survival kits display. Safety precautions: Observation tower: one venture/SPL/PL takes turn to stay on top of the observation tower as safety ambassador & help the younger kids. Other kids to climb up & down the observation tower only one at a time. Adventure trail: only one player on the trail at any one time. I’ll brief you on more safety precautions on that day. Survival kits display: have one stand by to explain and answer queries from the spectators.
(e) 1720 hours: shop closing time, start dismantling all pioneering projects. All scouts & ventures to pack and return all stuffs back to store room tidily.
(f) 1800 hours: Group fall-in to lower group flag.
(g) Dinner party performance, I trust the ventures & all patrols have your on-stage performance ready, yes or no?

Meeting Program for 2012-05-12 SAT

Dear Scouts & Ventures,

Please see attached the scout meeting program for this Saturday, 2012-05-12.

(a) Submit your anniversary dinner form & payment cheque if you have not done so;
(b) Submit your 留團報名表 or 晉團表 by 12 May at the latest. Details of these forms are in 229 webpage. Depending on the vacancies which may arise for SPL/PL/APL, you will be invited to apply for SPL/PL/APL. Details will be announced later;

(c) 12 May is your one and only time to rehearse your anniversary performance, please put in your efforts;

(d) On 19 May afternoon, we will do pioneering projects for display and fun use on 20 May, details of the pioneering projects to be built will be announced later; and

(e) On 19 May afternoon, we will also practise a guard of honour ceremony for review & inspection by the Wanchai Scout District Commissioner YUNG Sir on 20 May. If you wish to have the honour to be selected as the guard of honour members, you must come on 19 May for the practice. More details will be announced later.

Meeting Program for 2012-05-05 SAT

Please see attached meeting program for this Saturday, 2012-05-05. We’ll have a lot to do: personal survival kit competition, use of axe, help unloading bamboo poles, etc. and more importantly to prepare for the coming 20 May anniversary. Also, Wanchai Scout District representative may visit us to assess our Distinguished Scout Troop Award, so be smart & alert.

Also remember to submit your anniversary dinner party form and payment cheque, if you have not done so. Last but not least, remember we’ve a meeting on Tuesday, 2012-05-01 : Tree planting at Tai Tam Scout Centre, it’s a golden opportunity to serve the scout movement. See U at Maxicab terminal at Chai Wan MTR “C” exit at 1330 hours.

Dear Ventures,
All of you are also required to take part in foot drill ceremony on 20 May. Please come on 5 May for practice and be good role models to the junior ones.

Special Tree Planting at Tai Tam Scout Centre on 2012-05-01 TUE

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has procured some 20-30 tree buds (樹苗) for planting at Tai Tam Scout Centre and 229 has the honour to assist in this meaningful event. Details of this event are :

Date/time of assembly: 1330 hours on Tuesday, 2012-05-01
Place of assembly: Green maxicab route number 16M/16X terminal, G/F, Chai Wan MTR “C” exit
Dress code: Full scout uniform
What to bring: Water bottle, sun lotion, anti-mosquito lotion/spray, labour gloves, cap/hat, raincoat/rain gears (if the weather is not fine)
Expected date/time of dismissal: about 1700 hours on Tuesday, 2012-05-01
Place of dismissal: Tai Tam Scout Centre

We’ll take green maxicab from Chai Wan to Tai Tam Scout Centre. Tools for tree planting will be provided by 229. Hours worked will be counted towards your service hours. Imagine 10 years later you can point at the big tall trees in Tai Tam and tell which one was planted with your very own hands.

The parent consent form is attached, please pass the completed form to me at time of assembly. You will not be allowed to proceed unless you have your completed parent consent form with you. If you have any query, please call me.
