Scout – O Camp on Oct 16-17

Dear Scouts,

We’ll have our Orientation Camp on 16-17 OCT.  This time we’ll have a Carlton style, inter-patrol competition camp. All to wear full scout uniform on assembly and dismissal.

Venue: Hok Tau Campsite (鶴藪營地).  See below link for more details.

Tentative schedule is:
2010-10-16 (SAT)
0800 hours     At least 2 members from each patrol to arrive HKUGA College to take gears out from storeroom.
0830 hours     Coach arrives HKUGA College, load gears on board coach, then depart.
(only group gears, tents and bamboo poles will be loaded on board coach.  Cookset, gas stoves, foods and other patrol and personal gears will be carried in your rucksacks.)
0845 hours     Coach stops at Wanchai (at Morrison Hill Road) to pick up other scouts living in HK Island.
0900 hours     Coach stops at Kowloon Tong (Kent Road/Somerset Raod) to pick up other scouts living in Kowloon side
(BE PUNCTUAL, WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR LATE COMERS, see attached maps in the parent consent form for the pick up locations)
1000 hours    Arrive Hok Tau campsite, unload gears.
LUNCH    Each to prepare own packed lunch, no fire allowed.

Competition events include: Arrival inspection, Tent building, Building of one clothes/shoes rack & one camp door, Dinner cooking, Patrol performance during night camp fire, Night inspection, Breakfast cooking, Morning inspection, Hill walk & many other secret events.

2010-10-17 (SUN)
LUNCH  Each to prepare own packed lunch, no fire allowed.
1330 hours    Coach arrives campsite, load gears on board coach, then depart (cooking pots, etc. will be taken back home by you for proper cleaning).
1430 hours    Coach stops at Kowloon Tong, scouts living in Kowloon side debus.
1450 hours    Coach stops at Wanchai, scouts living in HK Island debus.
1505 hours    Coach arrives HKUGA College, unload gears back to storeroom (at least 2 members from each patrol to help).

See attached list of things to bring.  You will be briefed how to pack a rucksack during the meeting on 2 OCT.  You will use the meeting on 9 OCT to pack your patrol gears and sort out the menu.

It will be an interesting camp so please make every efforts to attend.  Parent consent form is attached.  Please return signed parent consent forms on 2 & 9 OCT.  You will not be allowed to join the camp without submitting signed parent consent form.

2001 Winter Camp

Day 1, Saturday 22nd December

Today began with a slow wake of scouts wading through their morning fatigue across ManSang’s sports ground at 0900 hours. It may have been too early but we began anyway, unpacking our rusty camping equipment, unused for the past half year. The troop checked the stuff a week ago, so it should be fine. Cubs began pouring into the warm bus as we mingled in the freezing cold packing the tents, gas and cook sets. Through one hour and a little bit more, we were finished (tired and exhausted) we boarded the bus and began our tinned sardine experience.
